Quality literacy can have several different benefits depending on the context.
However, TOO MANY PEOPLE ARE STILL EXCLUDED FROM THIS PROCESS:
- Literacy remains among the most neglected of all education goals, with about 759 million adults lacking literacy skills today. Two-thirds are women.
- There were 72 million children out of school in 2007.
- Millions of children are leaving school without havingacquired basic skills.
Having noted a lack of answers concerning literacy, it is the intention of ALPHACTION to make it a PRIORITY, especially since it is a basic human right and a mechanism for the pursuit of other human rights.
